why do we see certain colours in meditation?
i teach yoga and sound healing with toning. some students often see colours during the practice, especially magenta, and ask me why.
others, myself included, rarely see colour in this way. any ideas why?
thanks very much

We all sense things in different ways. Colour is simply a way of interpreting different energy. Magenta is interesting and it's just coming to me right now that it's a combination of love and the spirit - a pinky purple colour. During meditation we are more likely to connect with our higher self or true essence/spirit. I don't feel just one colour is associated with that as each person may have a 'strength' in a particular area or a colour that works particularly well for them and they might connect with that through meditation. This can even relate to their aura which will show their predominant colour energy at the time.
To explain why some people see colours in meditation and some people don't, it's simply due to the different energies and what the individual is taking from the meditation at the time. Someone might be in the space of nothingness, another might be on a visual journey of self-discovery and in between this you could say is colour - formless but different frequencies of energy. Just know that a higher part of the self knows what the colours are doing to heal or to provide messages to the subconscious.
